sadie in september
Taking a mini vacation from the Sadie shop has been a good thing for me. I've had time to catch up on some other projects and really focus on the fun wedding stuff we've been working on. But being on vacation hasn't stopped me from working on new Sadie pieces and dreaming up new directions for both my shop and blog. It's been a big year and I think it might be time for some change.
That's the real topic of this post. I'm thinking about changing the name of this blog. Sadie has really changed since I started it nearly two years ago, and the name just doesn't seem quite right anymore. The new name I have in mind expresses the themes of this blog a little better, I think, and also represents the things I make a little more accurately. As many of you know, Sadie was named as a tribute to the first pet that Jeff and I had together, but now I'm thinking about where we want our lives to go and what I find most inspiring these days. I love living so close to the mountains and ocean, travelling, discovering new materials (like the black tourmaline slabs, pink jasper, and antique tin above), learning new things (Emily and I have been tie-dyeing up a storm this summer) and sharing the photos that I take along the way. So, I think a new name for all of this might be in order. After all, I'm finished school now, in a couple of weeks I'll be a married woman, and I'm in my 30s now. A lot has changed in the last few years.
Do you want to know what name I'm thinking of, or should it be a surprise when/if I take the leap?
i think that would be fantastic! if it's something to sum up the overall feelings of you, your blog, and shop then it'll be a really great move. you've done such a great job already with the cohesiveness of your shop/blog theme, i'm excited to see what you come up with next:) how exciting!
ReplyDeletechanging things up in my corner of the internet is something i've been pondering a lot about lately too. change is a good thing:)
oh and yessss please tell us the name...well, actually no, i really love surprises. i'm on the fence:P
You should keep us in suspense! I love a good surprise. Have you set a timeline for yourself, or is this just a ponderment for now?
ReplyDeleteI'm genuinely curious now, but I guess we'll have to wait...also, I really like the texture in that black slab--I forget what you called it.
ReplyDeleteGale: Thank you so much, that means a lot since you've been a friend since practically the beginning of this whole adventure! By the way, I checked out your shop and LOVE your new rings! LOVE!
ReplyDeletePaige: I think I might just make the leap when the time is right. I'm sort of thinking September seems like a good time for a fresh start. After all, I might be changing my own name then (when I get married)..might as well switch up the blog name, too!
Rachel: Okay, I'm going to keep you in suspense a little longer about the new name! The black slab is black tourmaline. I love these new stones. A lot!
I've thought about changing my blog name before, I've always been scared to! But you should do whatever you want to do. it's your blog. People follow you for the content of your blog, not the name :)
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to see the new stuff Sadie has in September!
I love the items in the photo!
ReplyDeleteI think you should surprise everyone with the name change - change is good :)

I can't wait to see what you name it! I love change and it feels good to evolve and switch it up. Congrats on the next step!
ReplyDeleteooohhh, i'm excited to see what the new name will be! even if you decided to go with crusty turd pie (which i know isn't nearly as decadent as a rapture pie), you'd still have an amazing blog and everyone would know it.
ReplyDeleteKatie:Thanks, Katie. I feel the same way, but I feel like changing now is better than really needing to change in a year's time. I have so much new stuff for September! Can't wait to share it all!
ReplyDeleteLolo: Glad you like the new pieces I'm working with! Change is good! It'll be a nice fresh start for fall. :)
Stela: Haha, thanks! You have all definitely convinced me to change the name and to keep it a secret until it all goes down. Well, almost a secret...
Danielle: Crusty turd pie! Mmmm, perfect blog name! Thanks, dudette! Maybe I'll let you know what I'm thinking for new names soon. I trust your judgement!
Sarah, this is really a very exciting time. i think the re-branding for your shop and blog will only align you that much more to all your truest intentions. names give off vibrations (i believe so anyways) and for you to re-work the Sadie namesake is kinda like what you do to your pieces also. symbolic resurrections - wise move!!!
ReplyDeletealthough the suspense is aching i do really enjoy surprises like this, you do whatever feels right. i'm just thrilled you are coming into a new way of being. tremendous report. ♥
That's huge! Good for you lady! Change is a good thing. I really really want to know what you choose!
ReplyDeleteRapture pie! that was the best conversation ever!
ReplyDeleteI think change can be a great thing. Moving forward, you're hitting a milestone and stuff with getting married so it totally seems to fit. Go for it! I want to know what you are changing to! It will be genius I know it xx
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to finding out! I love your blog and designs.

I think it should be a surprise! Nothings better than fun surprises. ALSO, if you manage to put pink jasper on a long gold chain, notify me immediately and I will snatch it up!
ReplyDeletesadie is such a cute name but you're indeed on the step of wonderful changes that it would be the perfect timing :)
ReplyDeleteI CAN'T WAIT to see what it will be!
