As you guys might have read, Jeff and I are moving next week and our new apartment has a gas fireplace in the living room. A fireplace requires some nice art to go over it and we currently only large black and white photographs that I got plotted at a local print shop that would suit that space, but we are thinking we'd like something a bit more colourful. So, if the above images were framed in a 20.5" x 20.5" frame, which one would you prefer as the focal point of your living room? Most of our furniture is neutral or dark wood. I was thinking the frame would be black, but perhaps white would be worth a try, too? All of these photos I took with either my Diana or my Holga. They were taken in Merritt, B.C., Vancouver, Millersylvania, WA, and Portland, OR, respectively. Thanks for the help, friends!

I'm drawn to the last one with the purples, and also the green one with the ducks! Can't decide which one I like better. Maybe the green would be a nice compliment to your dark wood colors
ReplyDeleteThis is a tough choice, but I would say either the mountains or the ducks. Such lush shades of green!
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of the cityscape :)
ReplyDelete3rd one down! with the ducks. I love the colours.
ReplyDeleteI like the top one! Or the city scape as a second option. Both have nice lines in them.
ReplyDeleteI like the city one. It's more bright and inviting. I think the black frame will go better with this picture- better contrast. It will make to stand out. Good luck and let us know how your move goes!

Another vote for the city! I'm drawn to the colors, and if most of your other items are neutral, it will stand out that much more.
ReplyDelete#1 fo sho. You live in a city so having a city over your fireplace would only remind you of what's outside your door. Where as the first would remind you of adventure. Which I really think is what a fireplace represents. I mean, it can represent home, but lighting a fire is a big part of adventuring. & I always believe that bringing the outdoors in is key to my own sanity. I can't wait to see what you pick!
ReplyDeleteI love the last two because they pop in color! I think if you have a lot of dark woods, those would be such a great statement piece!
