weekend worship

My weekend has gone something like this so far:

Finally saw The King's Speech and Black Swan. I liked them both, but at the risk of sounding boring, I kind of liked The King's Speech better. It was just so much better than I expected and the wall behind the speech therapist's couch was gorgeous! I also rode my bike to the Vancouver Winter Farmer's Market with my friend Stephanie. I was surprised at how many vendors were there. Nothing like a bike ride in January to make you feel incredibly lucky that you live in Vancouver!

Yesterday Jeff and Lola and I went for a walk in Richmond, too. You can see the results of some of our explorations above. Did you know that Vancouver has a gigantic crow population and they all migrate east every night? In the afternoon and evening you can see them heading to their roost by the hundreds across the sky.

Hope you are having a great Sunday! Thank you for all of your kind words about the one year anniversary of Sadie Designs.

  1. the first picture is beautiful. the second picture makes me want carrot cake to point i'm almost drooling.

we have a lot of crows here that get in a HUGE (i'm talking over 100) flock during the winter, but i only see them at a certain time during the day, so now i'm wondering if they don't have a certain place they flock to at night.

  5. I love these pictures. I love how cloudy days make the colors look so great.

  6. Danielle: I know! The line up for that bakery cart was so long, but I kind of wanted to stand in it to try these carrot cake cookies that they had. They were sandwich cookies filled with cream cheese icing. Ridiculous and amazing! Our crows go to a Home Depot parking lot, I think. You should track yours someday and see what they're up to.

    Katie: Thanks!

Stephanie: You should totally go. It's not slow at all (at least I didn't think so) and the visuals are great, too.

AnastasiaC: I totally think Colin Firth should win, too! He's Canadian, you know! Black Swan wasn't as crazy as I thought it would be. Worth going to see, too.

Jihee: Thanks! I've been on a movie watching kick lately. It's such a nice way to get out of the house on a rainy night. :)

  10. O'Darlin: The part of Richmond that we visited does feel like a little town in some ways, rather than part of a giant (by Canadian standards) metropolis. I kinda like it! And The Kings Speech is great! You should try to see it. :)

Carla: Thank you! That means a lot, because that's just what I try to do when I post a lot of photos.

Bueno: Thanks! I'll be in touch re: the feature. :)

  11. I haven't seen The King's Speech, but I saw Black Swan last weekend and found it to be amazing and also totally disturbing. Had me on the edge of the seat the whole time, which is impressive since I'm so not a movie person.
