I wanted to share some photos from one of my new favourite photographers, Melanie Bonajo. I ran across her work in Portland when I saw her book I Have a Room With Everything. I wanted to share some of her work here because she's amazing. This is really what I wish that all of my photos conveyed: my desire to cover everything with plants and set up make shift shrines in the forest and spend all of my time outside and not thinking about city things. I like to think that I have biophilia. I just love nature and the outdoors so much and these photos capture that emotion better than any others I've seen. Her other work is pretty rad, too.

  1. Very cool! I grew up in the city so I'm not much of a nature girl, but I do appreciate these. :-)

  7. Paige: I grew up in cities, too. Nature in the city is my favourite kind of nature most days. I love trees that grow out of sidewalk cracks and self-seeded green roofs...even if it is mostly all invasive plants.

Rachel: That's one of my favourites, too.

Jihee: Thanks, Jihee! Good to hear from you again.

Amanda: It's definitely the creepiness that I love, too.

Maria: I know. It's like a botanical murder scene.

Jacqui: We should make one in Stanley Park!

  8. Sarah, we do need to take a trip to Stanley Park. I got a book from the library today on the plants of Stanley Park. We can find them, adorn them and take pictures of them!
