vintage double exposure

I found these amazing vintage double exposures in Christian Montone's Flickr photostream. I have a small collection of vintage photographs, but none this creepy and awesome! I think I'm going to start scouring flea markets and antique shops for happy photographic accidents like these. And these offer more evidence that many of the best double exposure images are portraits. Soon I'll share an accidental double exposure image with you in which my face is combined with the face of one of my friends. I have to warn you, though, it's difficult to understand and even harder to look at for prolonged periods of time. I'll be sure to post it later this week! In the mean time, check out Christian's photostream and let me know if you come across any other amazing double exposure images! (Oh yes, I just couldn't resist including the floating woman image in this post, too.)

  1. I love vintage double exposure! Now it's so easy to do, we don't even think about it--but back then it was cutting edge. (sometimes hilarious though)

  3. I love the idea of going on a hunt for more vintage double exposures! I'll keep my eyes out and send any I find your way (I doubt I will find any as wonderful as the floating woman).

  4. Rachel: These are great, aren't they? I love that these were creepy little photographic accidents, probably from film not being wound properly. I wonder if there were any photographic artists doing multiple exposures back then?

Claire: Yup, these photos make the olden time even creepier!

Maria: Me, too! Glad you like them!

Brandi: Thanks, Brandi! That floating woman is awesome, I know. I have a small collection of creepy baby images, too. I haven't gotten a new one in a while, though. :)
